U.S. Battery and Energy Manufacturer case study
“It's not just their answer. It's like what are they doing when they're solving it? How are they solving it? That's more important than the final answer.”
CTO

A U.S. battery company designs and builds LFP cells and packs for rail, defense and industrial power. Its engineers own the whole problem: the person who models a part in CAD may also test it in the lab and machine it.
A bar like that is expensive to check for. Hours of engineering time went into every finalist, so with a high volume of applicants, senior engineering availability decided who got the chance to advance.
Colare works with the company's engineering leaders to define the bar for junior and senior engineering roles, then built assessments from their real work: sizing pack components, reading prototype test results, weighing supplier quotes and releasing drawings with GD&T. Assessments now sit right after resume review, so every conversation starts with what the candidate can do.
“We find a lot of people can always talk and sound technical, but actually demonstrating true understanding of the material is challenging.” — CTO
